Head of the Household for a Year Today!

It was a year ago, today, that I was adopted.  I had no idea what it meant to be adopted at the time, just that I wanted to go home with someone nice so that I didn't end up being one of the older cats that no one looked at anymore.  If you want to read about my brief experience in the adoption center, please refer to the following entry dates:  04/20, 04/22, 04/25, and 04/27.

I'll never forget how scared I was when I took my first car ride, or when I was carried into this house that was so much larger than my tiny cage in the adoption center.  I weighed 1.94 pounds a year ago; now, I weigh 11.5 pounds!  My mommy photographs me all the time!  One of her favorite photos is from the day I took over the household.  She laid me down on the guest bed & I curled up to take my first nap, which was also her first photo opportunity and the moment she fell in love with me.  From this moment on, Daddy was knocked off his throne as head of the household & that role became mine!  I was awfully cute!  See:

Swiss Family Robinson

Mommy & I just arrived in FL.  As usual, Wahoo somehow managed to beat me home!

We watched the cutest family board - they all had blonde hair, blue eyes, and the most endearing accents.  One of the girls sat next to Mommy & me.  Not sure how this happened, as she had a puppy girl with her - a miniature pinscher to be exact.  Mommy was a little nervous, but it all worked out.  We were in the window seat.  We learned something new; it's a lot easier for Mommy to hide me by the window.  Michelle (the cute Swiss girl) & Kelly (the puppy girl) were in the center seat.  Kelly & I played paws-ies the entire flight.  I was sad when the flight ended.  Kelly's family has a home in Fort Lauderdale so maybe our paths will cross again.  For a canine, Kelly sure was cute!  As I've told you before, Mommy always tells me that I must try to get along with everyone, even if they're very different from me.

Snapper Survived Being Snipped!

Last night, Mommy & I called Grandma to check on Snapper.  He was snipped on Tuesday.  Boy, oh, boy - do I remember being snipped!

That morning, Mommy & Daddy took my food and water away; then they left the house.  Uncle Chas came to pick me up & he dropped me off at Dr. Ella's.  So far, Dr. Ella had poked me every time I'd seen her.  On this day, she drugged me so that I fell asleep, snipped what would have become my maleness, and inserted a chip onto my side with a very long needle.  When Mommy came to pick me up, I was still drugged; my parents couldn't stop laughing at how clumsy I was after I got home.  Mommy cried, as if she was the one who had been snipped.

As I got older, I understood that so many of my kind are left on the streets to fend for themselves.  Mommy & Daddy did the right thing by having me snipped.  Snapper - you'll see; everything will be okay!

Very First Night All Alone

Monday night was the very first time I've spent the night at home alone.  Mommy was in New York; Daddy was in Mexico.  I was a little scared, but excited at the same time.  I'm a big boy now & can hold the fort down over night, too, not just when Mommy & Daddy are at work.

Grandpa came to visit me.  He stayed with me until around 11 PM, then went home to my Grandmother.  He thought he had me tucked in for the night, but I had other plans!  My nocturnal nature, no parents - it was party time!  I stayed up all night watching TV & listening to the radio.  I played with my squirrel; Grandpa fed them late so that were with me most of the night.  It was great, but I sure was happy when Mommy got home last night.  Daddy comes home tonight so we'll all be together!

Mommy & I are going downstairs to the gym so I gotta run.  I lounge on this great rug while Mommy works out.  Catch ya' later.  --AJ the Kitty Boy

Aunt Crystal is Overprotective!

Mommy & Daddy agreed that I could have a sleepover at my house so that Floyd & I could play with the squirrels together, and so that he could see where I live.  I think it might help him to understand why I always leave to come home.  They called Aunt Crystal tonight, to make the arrangements, but Aunt Crystal won't let Floyd come over.  She feels that the travel would traumatize my friend.  Poor Floyd - there are so many things I get to do & see.  I wish he could share in some of my adventures with me.  I guess Aunt Crystal is right, though.  For any of my fans looking for a kitty boy as cool as I am, remember - you MUST start the nurturing and get your kitty boys in the habit of traveling, bathing, having their nails trimmed, staying in different homes, etc.... EARLY ON so that they learn to adapt.  Being spoiled comes naturally for us felines; you won't have to teach them that!    Catch ya' later.  --AJ the Kitty Boy

Sad Floyd!

Aunt Crystal emailed Mommy with the following message:

"It's just the cutest, saddest thing ever; Floyd has been hovering by the front door crying since AJ left.  He misses his little friend."

I didn't realize that Floyd misses me so much after our visits; that makes me feel special!  I'll have to visit with Floyd soon; we have so much fun together.  Thomas is a little older & more reserved.  Floyd & I love to harass him.  It's a fun fest!

Back from Vacation; Back to My Squirrel

Hi, Folks - I took a break from blogging.  I've been at Floyd & Thomas' while Mommy & Daddy were in the Bahamas for the 4th!  They picked me up last night.  I was sad to leave the guys, but am happy to be home!  My squirrel & I had some good quality time today.  I'd like for you to meet him.  See below.  Catch ya' later.  --AJ the Kitty Boy

I Just Don't Know About Snapper!

Obviously, we made it to Grandma's safely.  But, when we got back to Atlanta, the landing wasn't so smooth.  Daddy landed the plane with a BIG THUMP!  I was sleeping soundly in my seat &, then, THUMP!  Work on those landings, Dad!

I had a great time with Grandma, but I'm not so sure about the Snapper Kitty.  I thought he might have learned some manners since I last saw him, but he hasn't.  He's not a friendly creature.  He should have more respect for his elders; I am older, by a whole 10 months!  He didn't want to share his food, food, water, treats, or litter box.  He actually tried to keep me in his litter box out of spite; it was a stand-off!  Grandma loves the brat, though!

Grandma & I got some time alone together (except for Snapper) because Mommy & Daddy hit Surf Rider, one of their favorite restaurants in VA Beach, for lunch.  Love you & miss you, Grandma!

To Grandma's House, We Go!

Yesterday was nice . . . it was Saturday & Mommy & Daddy stayed home with me most of the day.  It's rare that we all just spend a weekend in Atlanta.

This morning, we took off early to see Grandma!  This was my first ride on Daddy's new plane.  I was very excited, but a little nervous because on Mommy & Daddy's last trip home from the Bahamas last weekend, one of the engines was started with a broomstick.  No - I'm NOT kidding!

I was such a big boy sitting on the plane.  See?!?!  I'll tell you about my trip later.  Catch ya' later!  --AJ the Kitty Boy

I'm Boycotting Kroger!

Today, my family stopped shopping at Kroger & so should all of my fans!  I don't believe that Kroger is a grocer of integrity!

It's the Fresh Market & Publix for us from now on!  If I was completely out of litter, treats, and Iams, I would go without if Kroger were the only grocer around.  I love my kitty treats so that's saying a lot!  Catch ya' later.  --AJ the Kitty Boy
